Module 3.2 · Topic 3

Analysis & Evaluation

Bottom Line Up Front: Use generative AI to analyze patterns, review your work for gaps and weaknesses, compare options side-by-side, and monitor developments so you spot what matters before it becomes a crisis. After…

3.1 Analyzer: Pattern Recognition and Data Interpretation

Use AI to spot patterns in cases, documents, or data that you then verify. Pattern recognition is an AI core strength with many data points.

Ask AI to analyze collections for common causes and unexpected patterns. AI will flag recurring issues for investigation. Treat patterns as hypotheses: verify against source data before acting. Confirm correlations aren't artifacts or hallucinations.

3.2 Reviewer: Quality Assessment and Feedback

Have AI review a document you've prepared, identifying gaps, weaknesses, or alternative approaches before finalization.

Completeness review:
Ask AI to flag gaps—questions unanswered, stakeholders unconsidered, scenarios unaddressed.
Logic audit:
Ask AI whether conclusions follow from premises, statements contradict earlier claims, or evidence supports assertions.
Weakness identification:
Ask AI: "What's the strongest argument against my position? What would a skeptic challenge?" This tests your reasoning before actual opponents do.
Audience relevance:
Ask AI whether your document addresses your audience's specific questions and supports their decision-making.

3.3 Comparator: Side-by-Side Evaluation and Benchmarking

Ask AI to compare multiple contracts, arguments, or approaches side-by-side, identifying differences and trade-offs so you make informed choices.

Comparison Type AI Process Outcome
Contract versions Extract key terms from each; list them in a table; flag differences and note implications. Side-by-side term comparison; risk and cost impact visible
Competing arguments Outline the logic and evidence of each argument; compare premises, reasoning, and conclusion strength. Clarity on which argument is stronger and why; basis for your choice
Vendor or solution options Extract capabilities, pricing, terms, and limitations for each option; create a decision matrix. Objective comparison; clearer basis for recommendation or choice
Case law precedents Summarize holdings, reasoning, and distinguishing facts for each case; highlight alignment and tension. Clear understanding of precedent landscape; basis for argument strategy

3.4 Monitor: Ongoing Tracking and Alerting

Set up a system where AI monitors for changes and alerts you to what matters. (Pro Tip: Click the 3.4 heading above, select the "Your Question" option, paste it into LawQi and modify the "[Enter your Question Here]" block to read: "How do I do this with ChatGPT?" and let LawQi discover and give you that answer.)

Real-Time: Set AI to flag new cases or articles daily. Configure thresholds: "only federal appellate decisions" or specific holdings.
Periodic Digest: Ask AI for weekly or monthly reviews of significant developments and interpretation shifts.
Event-Triggered: Set conditions: "Alert on new product launches" or "Flag contradictory cases." Alerts only when triggered.
